Inside Sales/Technical Support
Job description
Job Summary
Metraflex is a manufacturer that has been supplying piping specialty products to the commercial HVAC industry since 1958. Located in the West Town part of downtown Chicago, Metraflex has representatives selling their products across the country and around the world. The Inside Sales/Technical Support position will have a working knowledge of the Metraflex product offering, and be able to make product recommendations based off individual application requirements. They will work directly with our established network (no cold calling) of manufacturers’ representatives and engineers to assist in quoting, pricing, and delivery of products to end users.
Responsibilities and Duties
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Account Manager contact for factory representatives
- Recommend products to end users and manufacturers’ representatives
- Create competitive quotes while maintaining company’s profitability
- Design custom products using existing tools
- Apply product knowledge to troubleshoot application issues
- Provide technical support and customer service support to our clients and end users
- Coordinate among departments and external suppliers to meet project deadlines
- Work effectively in a high paced environment
- Communicate daily with established client base
Qualifications and Skills
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- Well-rounded knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of Applications
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to prioritize and multi task
- Time and scope management for multiple projects for each disturbing client
- Willing to travel up to 3 times a year
- Ability to effectively articulate technical challenges and solutions in a fast-paced dynamic environment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field
- Familiar with engineering drawings
- Familiar with commercial HVAC systems and their components
- Sales experience

The Sales Manager position will have a working knowledge of the Metraflex product offerings, and be able to make product recommendations based off individual application requirements.

- Coordinate among departments and external suppliers to meet project deadlines
- Work effectively in a high paced environment
- Provide product training to distributors, designers & engineers
- Maintain good relationship with distributors & vendors
- Responsible for generating & updating prices
- Keep up with market intelligence (SWOT)
- Attend all relevant trade shows
- Attend NFPA Hanger & Bracing meetings
- Research new distributors
- Continuous distributor & designer education
- Help keep web site current
- Coordinate vendor deliveries to meet deadlines
- Maintain UL & FM relationship at all listed locations
- Manage new product approval by FM & UL
- Handle special project pricing
- Resolve distributor issues
- Suggest improvements
- Use customer feedback to generate ideas about new features and products
- Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external clients
- Research and discover methods to increase customer engagement
- Continue open communication within the Sales department
- Qualifications and Skills
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

Offered compensation:
$75,000/yr – $85,000/yr

- Assemble various sub-assemblies to print and worksheet specifications.
- Experience with operating heavy machinery including forklifts and hand jacks.
- Proficient in use of various hand tools including drills, air tools, etc.
- Interface with fellow employees to accomplish goals.
- Use of scanners to pick inventory for jobs.
- Record labor time in computer.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 1 to 3 years’ experience working in a heavy manufacturing environment.
- High School diploma or GED is required.
- Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills, along with being a team player.
- Bilingual Spanish a plus
- Metal working machinery experience a plus
